HousingPlus kicks off our 20th Anniversary Celebration on June 1st.

Our Benefit and Good Person Awards Celebration, hosted at the Union League Club, honored our 20 years of providing housing and support for women in New York City.

Our Good Person Award Winners:

  • Abigail Disney, Filmmaker, Activist and Philanthropist in recognition of her decades of dedicated advocacy, philanthropy, and activism.
  • Rita Zimmer, HousingPlus Founder and Executive Director in recognition of her decades-long commitment to service and changing women’s lives.
  • Rev. Annie Bovian, in recognition of her decades-long commitment to ministry, and advocacy for women in prison.
  • Nicola Hall, HousingPlus Tenant, in recognition of her commitment to consistently showing up for HousingPlus, championing their mission and her full commitment to providing a safe and nurturing environment for her daughters

The keynote of the evening was a powerful panel discussion on housing inequality. Hosted by Jennifer Jones Austin, CEO of FPWA and featuring panelists Abigail Disney, Rita Zimmer and Annie Bovian, the discussion centered on housing as a fundamental right and how housing and income inequality affect not only the women HousingPlus serves, but generations of people throughout our country.

HousingPlus was able to raise over $300,000 that evening to support our life-changing work. You can watch the honoree videos of Rita, Annie and Nicola on our media page.
Keep an eye out for Abigail’s documentary, The American Dream and Other Fairy Tales, coming later this year
