Since our start in 2002, HousingPlus has used a housing-first model. This approach centers on providing people experiencing homelessness with housing as quickly as possible. We believe that our tenants are better able to move forward in their lives if they are first housed and then have access to supportive services, including mental health therapy, substance abuse counseling, education referrals, employment support, and community connections. Using a trauma-informed, strength-based approach, our case managers, health and wellness counselor, employment services staff, and other support staff work with the women at our housing program to develop personalized goals toward achieving housing stability, economic self-sufficiency, and independent living.
